Gospel musician ,Broda Sammy has revealed his intention to shift his music style by creating more danceable songs to expand his audience and performance opportunities.
During an interview, the outspoken gospel singer admitted that his current catalog of mostly worship songs has limited his chances of being invited to events such as weddings, birthday parties, and social gatherings.
“I don’t have any danceable songs, so I am hardly invited for birthday parties and the rest, but I am going to focus on creating those songs from now onwards,” Broda Sammy said.
He explained that while he has built his reputation around spirit-filled worship songs, it is time to diversify his sound to reach a wider audience.
“I’ve done a lot of worship songs, so I don’t get invited to parties, weddings, and birthday shows. I don’t have danceable songs, so I’ve decided that from now onwards I will start creating those songs,” he added.
Broda Sammy further emphasized the importance of being versatile as an artist, citing the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba as an example of musical dynamism.
“I am a musician, so I have to be able to perform every song. Unlike the late Daddy Lumba, he has songs for every situation. You have to be dynamic,” he said.
