Z-9 helicopter crash findings unsatisfactory, lack credibility – Farouk Al-Wahab

International Diplomatic Consultant, Farouk Al-Wahab, has criticized the recruitment process conducted by the Ghana Armed Forces at the El-Wak Sports Stadium on Wednesday, November 13, 2025.

He described it as primitive and authorities need to be held accountable for the tragic death of six individuals.

Mr. Al-Wahab’s concern about the recruitment process highlights the incompetence and poor organizational management leading to the tragic deaths of innocent individuals seeking jobs in the security services.

“Soldiers are meant to protect the entire nation, and applicants should not have been allowed to gather at El-Wak, especially when their numbers far exceeded those of the military personnel present,” he disclosed.

He criticized that the incident had tarnished the reputation of the security service, raising questions about how they could not implement crowd safety measures during the recruitment process.

“The incident has brought disgrace to the Ghana Armed Forces.

“Why were such large numbers of applicants allowed to gather at El-Wak Stadium when there were only 2,000 military personnel in total?” he queried.

Accra recorded 140mm of rain on June 29, one of the highest in years – Prez. Mahama

Speaking on a phone-in interview on Thursday, November 13, 2025, Mr. Al-Wahab stated that the mass number at the premises was driven by desperation and vulnerability of the youth, which indicates the level of job seekers in the country.

‘’These kids are vulnerable and confused, because why would one person apply for all the services, including the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Prison Service, Ghana Military Service, and Ghana Navy,” he stressed.

He further emphasized the need for the Ministry of Defense (Ghana) to implement strict regulations, ensuring that the recruitment process is conducted in batches within a spacious environment to enhance efficiency and avoid outdated practices.

“It is a primitive concept in the recruitment process to have a huge number of applicants gathered at El Wak instead of Accra Sport, which can accommodate 40,000 people,” he criticized.
