Ghana launches tech-driven land reform to boost transparency, economic growth

Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson has revealed that the gov’t has launched a technology-led land administration system.

The initiative aims to eliminate corruption, reform to enhance land transactions, and full transparency.

Addressing the parliament during the 2026 budget reading on Thursday November 13, 2025, he stated that “our land system has been slowed, opaque and prone to fraud, he added that these happenings would terrify our investment and opportunities.

He further said that the system will enable every Ghanaian citizen to go through the process of buying and selling lands.

“Every Ghanaian will soon be able to register, verify and transfer lands online ending the era of missing files, corruption and dispute,” Mr. Forson stated.

He added that the land commission, in partnership with the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources will use all of its revenue to support a technology-driven national land registry for long-term transformation, noting that it will integrate land, planning and property data on one secured platform.

Mr. Forson explained that it will unlock access to credit boost agriculture businesses and make land catalysts for jobs.

He emphasized that land will stop being a source of conflict and instead become a strong basis for shared prosperity.

“ Land will no longer be a source of conflict but a foundation for share prosperity,” Ato Forson stated.
