The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has clarified the status of an INTERPOL Red Notice application involving former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who has been implicated in corruption-related cases.
In a public notice, the OSP stated that the matter is still under review and urged the public to disregard false publications circulating on the issue.
According to the OSP, the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files informed Ghanaian authorities in October 2025 that Ofori-Atta had applied for the removal of his name from INTERPOL’s Red Notice.
Subsequently, Ghana submitted its official response to the Commission on October 22.
The Office explained that further communication, dated November 7, indicated that Ofori-Atta had filed additional arguments in an addendum. Following this, the Commission again requested Ghanaian authorities to submit their response by November 21.
The OSP emphasized that proceedings regarding the application remain “pending”, as the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files is still studying the case.
It added that during ongoing proceedings, applicants’ names, images, and related details are often redacted from public access until a final determination is made.
The notice cautioned the public to disregard any contrary publications, describing them as misinformation and mischief.
