The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah (MP), has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of a member of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) task force, describing the incident as painful, unfortunate, and a great loss to the nation.

According to Mr. Kofi Buah, the fallen officer’s service and dedication to the national fight against illegal mining remain commendable, and he called on the public to join in honouring the memory of a man who sacrificed in the line of duty.

Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah’s message of sympathy follows a road accident near Obuasi, which claimed the life of a taskforce member while on official duty.

In a condolence visit to the Secretariat on Wednesday, November 20, 2025, Mr. Kofi Buah, together with Mr. Isaac Tandoh, Acting Chief Executive Officer(C.E.O.) of the Minerals Commission, and other senior officials, reaffirmed the government’s solidarity with the NAIMOS team and the bereaved family.

He added that the Ministry remains committed to safeguarding the welfare and safety of all frontline operatives combating illegal mining across the country.

“This is a moment of shared grief, but also of renewed resolve. The nation stands with you. Your work is noble, and your fallen colleague’s legacy will not be forgotten,” he remarked.

The Minister, on behalf of the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, signed the book of condolence and assured the NAIMOS leadership that the government will provide the necessary support to the bereaved family.

According to him, the Ministry and the Minerals Commission are working closely with the family to ensure a dignified farewell for the departed officer, further encouraging the task force to remain steadfast.

“In the face of adversity, the strength of a team is revealed. Let this moment of sorrow remind us of the profound impact of your service to Ghana. Together, we will uphold the values of integrity, courage, and commitment that define our collective mission.”, he stated.
