The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has given newly posted medical doctors an additional week to report to their assigned duty stations, citing an alarming refusal rate nationwide.

His ultimatum follows the refusal of some medical officers to accept postings to their respective stations.

The Minister warned that the situation could jeopardize healthcare delivery, particularly in the Upper West Region, where 25 out of 32 doctors posted have not reported.

Speaking at a press conference, he emphasized that postings are final and will not be changed.

“The ministry is working with local authorities to make districts more accommodating and considering incentives to encourage compliance.

“Regional health directors are reaching out to doctors, and stakeholder engagements are underway to secure support, including accommodation and provisions,” Mr. Akandoh said.

Mr. Akandoh expressed confidence that the doctors would report to their various posts.
