One perished in head-on collision at Adansi Akrokerri

A tragic road crash occurred at the Adansi Akrokerri junction in Ashanti Region on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, resulting in the death of one person.

The accident involved a head-on collision between a Hyundai minivan (AS 8655-20) bound for Obuasi and a Hyundai truck (AS 3948-24) headed to Kumasi.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the crash happened when the minivan attempted to overtake wrongfully, leading to the collision.

Two occupants of the truck were seriously injured and taken to the hospital.

The driver of the minivan died at the scene and was later handed over to the Jacobu District Police after being extricated by the rescue team.

The rescue team from the Fomena Fire Station, led by LFM Boateng, responded promptly to the emergency call at approximately 15:19pm.

Both vehicles sustained significant frontal damage, with the truck veering into a ditch due to the impact.

In response to the incident, the Service emphasized the importance of following traffic rules and avoiding wrongful overtaking to prevent such accidents.

The Service further reaffirmed its commitment to providing prompt and professional emergency responses to safeguard lives.
