The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has celebrated the 2025 International Day for Persons with Disabilities in Accra, affirming its commitment to disability-inclusive healthcare.

The event highlighted key reforms aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility for persons with disabilities, including the launch of a Technical Working Group on Disability Inclusion, disability-focused e-learning modules for health workers, and the almost-complete National Disability Guidelines.

Ghana was also formally presented with its membership certificate in the World Health Organisation (WHO) Disability Health Equity Network (D-HEN), a global recognition of the country’s leadership in advancing equitable healthcare.

Speaking on behalf of the Acting Director-General, Dr. Caroline Reindorf-Ammissah underscored that disability inclusion is not charity, but justice and equity.
