A tragic road accident at Mampong Abuontem in the Ashanti Region has claimed three lives and left several others injured, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) confirmed.

The collision, which occurred on Thursday, December 4, 2025, involved a Toyota Coaster bus belonging to Ejura Agric College and an Opel Astra saloon car.

According to the GNFS, the crash happened around 5:38 p.m. when the Opel Astra, registered AS 3838 W, veered into the path of the oncoming Toyota Coaster bus (GV 1720-20).

The impact left the Astra mangled beyond recognition, trapping its driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants of the car later succumbed to their injuries.

The GNFS rescue team, led by LFM Emmanuel Kwami, responded swiftly to the distress call, working with members of the public to extricate victims and restore traffic flow.

In total, 30 passengers sustained injuries where twenty-six have since been treated and discharged, while four remain in critical condition at the Mampong Government Hospital.

The Toyota minibus suffered damages to its windscreen, front bumper, and fenders.
