Tragedy struck on Saturday, December 6, 2025, when two female prison officers believed to be from the Akuse Local Prison lost their lives in a fatal road accident.
The heartbreaking incident occurred along the stretch between Akuse Junction and VRA Junction within the Akuse Township.
According to reports, two male officers who were also involved in the crash sustained multiple fractures.
They were initially rushed to the Akuse Government Hospital for treatment but have since been referred to the St. Joseph Catholic Hospital at Effiduase in Koforidua.
At the time of filing this report, they have been hospitalized and currently receiving emergency medical care.
Authorities have yet to issue an official communique on the incident.
Meanwhile, colleagues and families of the deceased officers are grappling with the devastating news.
Personnel from the Akuse District Police Command are working closely with other state security agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident and to provide clarity on what led to the tragic event.
