The Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has spelled doom for President John Dramani Mahama in the 2028 Presidential election if he decides to seek a third-term bid beyond the constitutionally mandated two terms in Ghanaian politics.

He argued that it could result in the most devastating electoral defeat of Mr. Mahama’s political career.

“If truly President Mahama will come back to contest, he will suffer the worst of defeat in his political life if goes for a third term in 2028 elections,” Mr. Acquah asserted on Angel TV on Thursday, December 11, 2025.

The MP, speaking on Angel Morning Show (AMS) on the subject, noted that President Mahama needs proactive watchdogs rather than passive supporters, as genuine accountability from Ghanaians is essential for effective leadership.

He explained that some unfazed stakeholders are involved in fast-tracking and implementing the third-term agenda, a situation he observed threatens the country’s democratic structures.

“Structures that bind the democracy is about failing. There are certain political mindsets that is gradually linking to the third term agenda; that is, the removal of the Chief Justice, petition to the removal of the Electoral Commissioner,” he alleged.

He further asserted that the NDC used propaganda to weaken electorate conviction in the 2024 election, leading to voter apathy which facilitated their capture of power
