Deputy National Fields Director for the United Party (UP), believed that the Presidential third-term bid debate, which has gained public attention, is targetted to divert the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s focus on attaining the promises they made to Ghanaians.

Afia Korankyewaa, in a panel discussion on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), she urged the NDC to remain steady and guided in fulfilling all the things they they assured the people when seeking power.

She noted that the NDC’s 2024 manifesto outlined a strong strategy to tackle illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, and urged the party to focus on addressing the issue instead of thinking about a third-term.

“If you check NDC’s manifesto, they stated a very wonderful strategy they will use to fight galamsey; they should concentrate on it and remove the third-term from their minds,” she added on Thursday, December 11, 2025.

According to her, NPP may lack a strong candidate for the next presidential elections, which has pushed them to promote a third-term agenda to test the NDC and mislead the public.

“NPP may have realized that they don’t have a candidate for the next elections, so let’s bring a propaganda to test NDC and confuse people,” Madam Korankyewaa asserted.

She added that all political parties in the country campaigned against the NPP ahead of the 2024 elections due to the poor state of affairs at the time and voted for change, therefore the change needs to be protected.
