The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has cautioned former Zebilla Member of Parliament, Cletus Avoka, to exercise restraint in his public comments on the Bawku conflict, warning that reckless statements could undermine the fragile peace process.

Presenting the Bawku Mediation Report to President John Dramani Mahama, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stressed the need for measured communication to safeguard ongoing reconciliation efforts.

He noted that Cletus Avoka must be careful with his public pronouncements, describing the Bawku situation as delicate and requiring collective responsibility.

“My son Cletus Avoka if he is here, because he has to be very careful in what pronouncements he make publicly, it is not right it’s a dicey situation we are all trying to make amends and get people to put together our brothers and sisters. It looks like he is making various pronouncements which wouldn’t endure to the peace that we want,” Otumfuo emphasized on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

According to the Asantehene, while efforts are being made to resolve the matter and promote unity among the people, certain statements being made in the public space do not support the peace being pursued.

“We’ve gotten to a stage where we all have to find peace then Bawku naaba is the Bawku naaba the law is on his side and we agree to that, but you don’t make pronouncements on radio and everywhere that will incense the other side, where we have reached is more like reconciliation,” he added.
