Member of Parliament (MP) for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has opened up about the challenges she faces in her political and entrepreneurial journey, stressing that her determination and ambition often intimidate others.

According to her, ambition must be greater than oneself, and true leadership is defined by goals that inspire fear because of their magnitude.

“I believe that when you are lazy, you give up easily because people will bully you, abuse you, and make you feel like you are nobody, but, the thing is that your ambition should be bigger than you. If your ambition does not scare you then you are not a leader.

“When you tell me I can’t do it, then you are scared of me. When you are too good to be true, people are scared of you and I believe that me personally, a lot of people are scared of me because when they help me I can become better and better and better.

“…So 99% of my challenges that I go through, not because I’ve done anything but because I was born to win, that’s my only challenge,” she emphasised.

Mrs. Cudjoe reiterated that she was born “to win, you can’t do anything about it, whether you like it or not, I know myself, I know who God says that I am and I know the God that being with me from day one.

“So when you see people who are winning the best thing is to join them, not to bring them down, yeah, because if you like it or not the person is a winner.”

The MP, who doubles as an entrepreneur and businesswoman, acknowledged her legal battle prior to contesting the parliamentary seat as the only major challenge she had faced.

“For me the only thing that I went through was the people who took me to court, the people who wanted me to become like nobody, they say that she [Joana Gyan Cudjoe] can never become a Member of Parliament, but I’m actually a Member of Parliament now in the 9th Parliament.”

She, however, hinted that her humility and simplicity have kept her grounded despite the challenges.

“I know that no one can bring me down because I stay in my lane, I’m humble, I live a simple life and I don’t live to please anyone. I understand life and I know how to go through the process and wait for God’s appointed time, so for me, this is how I see the challenges as opportunities rather,” the MP remarked.

Joana Gyan Cudjoe told Anita Akufo of TV3 during the Thursday, December 18, 2025, edition of the Afternoon Show in a one-on-one interview themed “Leadership to Entrepreneurship; Different Shades of Joana”.
