Ghanaian musician Mzbel has stirred conversation online after sharing her controversial views on marriage, fidelity and trust between couples.

Speaking in an an interview, the singer suggested that men should be “free to explore,” arguing that strict expectations of faithfulness could make marriages dull.

“I’m not saying I’m looking for a man who cheats, but as a man you need to explore; otherwise your marriage will be boring,” she said.

Mzbel added that women who want to enjoy their marriages should allow their husbands some freedom, insisting that excessive restrictions often create tension in relationships.

“As a woman, if you want to enjoy your husband, you have to allow him to explore,” she stated.

The musician also blamed certain religious practices for what she described as controlling behaviour among married women.

According to her, church marriage rites sometimes make women feel overly entitled to their husbands’ lives.

“It is the rituals or duties performed in church that make women behave like that. The moment you say ‘for better for worse,’ they think they own your life,” she claimed.

Mzbel further noted that marriage often introduces unnecessary suspicion between couples, even when there was trust before the union.

“Even placing your phone down becomes a problem. Before marriage, you were okay with each other, but after marrying, everything changes. Everyone becomes tense and overly careful,” she added.
