The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has carried out a series of coordinated, intelligence-led operations across the Eastern and Greater Accra Regions, leading to the dismantling of multiple drug dens as part of a festive-season security exercise dubbed ā€œOperation White Ember.ā€

According to a report issued by the NACOC on Sunday, December 28, 2025, the operations targeted several known drug hotspots, where officers disrupted drug trafficking activities and arrested suspected peddlers.

ā€œOfficers struck drug hubs spanning from Mange, Tutu in the Eastern Region to the Madina Redco Flats, Zongo junction to the railway slums of Airport City,ā€ the report revealed.

The NACOC highlighted that similar raids were carried out during the festive season in some parts of the Greater Accra Region, leading to the arrest of dozens of suspects and the seizure of illicit drugs, adding that beyond the arrests, the Commission emphasised the human cost of drug abuse and the lives potentially saved through the operation.

ā€œOn Boxing Day, the Commission conducted similar raids in Tema Community 1 and Teshie Nungua where dozens of arrests were made and drugs were seized with the help of the NACOC K9 dogs.
Patrols were conducted at the various malls and beaches in the Capital.

Beyond the arrests and the yellow tape, NACOC emphasizes the human cost. NACOC believes the exhibits seized ranging from ecstasy and methamphetamine to cannabis-laced alcohol represent “thousands of lives saved from the brink of addiction” this December,ā€ the NACOC noted.

The NACOC further disclosed that the operations led to the arrest of suspects, with officers engaging residents through on-site education.

ā€œDuring the operations, which resulted in the arrest of 72 suspects, officers engaged with community members who had gathered to cheer the removal of drug peddlers from their streets.

ā€œOfficers conducted on-site public education, briefing residents on the dangers of drug abuse and the impact of narcotics on neighborhood safety,ā€ the report emphasized.

The Commission said that the raids will continue to maintain public safety across
the capital as NACOC remains committed to the ensure the holiday remains a time of joy rather than tragedy.

ā€œWhether on the beaches of the capital, public areas in the city or slums, NACOC remains committed to ensuring the holiday remains a time of joy rather than tragedy adding that the raids will continue to maintain public safety,ā€ the commission stated.
