In a significant show of solidarity, Patriotic Intellectuals of Ghana, the National Association of TESCON Patrons for Bawumia 2028, TESCON members, and professional groups within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have officially declared their support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s candidacy as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

The endorsement was announced during a press conference led by the Chairman of Patriotic Intellectuals, Sesah. This declaration comes ahead of the NPP’s internal presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.

The group lauded Dr. Bawumia as the most competent, credible, and unifying candidate capable of leading the party to victory and serving as President of Ghana.

After a thorough evaluation of all candidates vying for the flagbearership, the group concluded that Dr. Bawumia distinctly stands out due to his experience, integrity, and track record in governance.

They acknowledged the efforts and commitment of all aspirants; however, they maintained that Dr. Bawumia is the most prepared to guide the party into the future.

“That is why when someone says something against him he doesn’t respond because he knows that when he wins he will need all of them. And this is the reason Dr. Bawumia says when he wins he’ll need all of us,” he stated.

Chairman Sesah further urged all NPP members to vote peacefully, emphasising that after electing Dr. Bawumia, collaboration with the other candidates will be essential for winning the 2028 general election.

“We’re all from one party and after electing Dr. Bawumia, we need the other four members to join us to do the campaign together; he alone cannot fight this battle ahead of us in December 2028.”

“I believe that, we the delegates who will be voting or the supporters of other aspirants, there’s no need to be fighting and querying each other.

“Now we have about five days to the election and we all need the spirit of patriotism to come together peacefully as the NPP we normally do,” he advised.
