The Minister of Finance, Mr. Cassiel Ato Forson has signed a US$12.83 million grant agreement with the African Development Bank (AfDB) to finance feasibility studies for key infrastructure projects under the government’s Big Push programme.
The funded studies will cover a proposed interchange at the 37 Military Hospital and the redevelopment of major markets across the country, including Agbogbloshie, Techiman, Sekondi, and Mankessim markets.
The grant will also support feasibility work for Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones to be developed in the Afram Plains, Nsawam, and Builsa areas.
According to the Finance Minister, the funding will be used to undertake detailed feasibility studies, including full designs, cost estimates, environmental and social impact assessments for a successful construction
Mr. Ato Forson expressed appreciation to the African Development Bank and its Country Manager, Eyerusalem Fasika, for their strong partnership and continued support for Ghana’s development agenda.
He noted that the government aims to complete the studies early to pave the way for timely commencement of construction, as part of efforts to accelerate infrastructure development and economic growth under the Big Push initiative.
