Business mogul and 2028 presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has conceded defeat in the party’s recently held presidential primary on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

His gesture follows provisional results positioning Dr. Bawumia as the winner of the fierce contest with more than 50% of the votes cast.

Mr. Agyapong, the closest contestant, pulled 23% of the votes, with Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyapong following in that order.

Moments after Dr. Bawumia’s camp declared their candidate winner in its collation, the vociferous politician admitted defeat and described the development as the “worst.”

“I know most of you are dejected. You have to keep your spirit up, because once we have life, we have everything. So don’t be dejected,” he said.

Mr. Agyapong, while consoling his supporters, asked them to go and eat and drink, as there was enough food for them at his office.

The disappointed flagbearer hopeful entreated his disheartened supporters to remain calm, keep faith alive, and rally behind the party for future endeavors.
