Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has paid tribute to one of its fallen supporters, Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, who met his untimely death on February 3, 2025, during a Ghana Premier League match.
Monday, February 2, 2026, marks one year since his tragic death at Nsoatre.
In a commemorative statement, the Porcupine Warriors stated that “As your voice echoed through the stadium so shall your memory remain wherever we step out to play.”
The club emphasized that Pooley’s passion for football and his unwavering support continue to echo in every chant and celebration, despite his untimely passing.
Kotoko described Pooley as more than just a fan, highlighting his devotion to the beautiful game and lamenting the senseless violence that cut short his life.
“Football is a game of compassion,. community and joy, and it is the travesty that Pooley was taken doing what he loved,” the Porcupine Worriors said.
With heavy hearts, the club reflected on the light Pooley brought to the stands, noting that while the game continues, it is “less bright without you.”
Asante Kotoko pledge to keep Pooley’s spirit alive, stating that “Forever in our hearts, we miss you every day. Your legacy remains.”
