The incident-free election conducted during the recent presidential primary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a vindication of the competence of Inspector General of Police, Christian Yohuno Tetteh, according to Peter Kwakye-Ackah,

The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Amenfi Central in the Western Region noted that the IGP’s track record in security arrangements for internal elections since assuming office has been top-notch.

Against this backdrop, Mr. Kwakye-Ackah proudly stated that the Police hierarchy, headed by the IGP, is demonstrating mastery in its duties.

“The elections went smoothly unlike previous NPP internal elections that were marred by violence. Now, we know that when you have a good leader, subordinates also emulate his footsteps. So you can clearly see that, with the right leadership, the IGP passed this test as well. This adds up to the recent by-elections [Ablekuma North and Akwatia] which was neat and clean,” he said on Angel TV.

He further anticipated that such positive developments, built on effective security arrangements, would continue to be key to ensuring peaceful, credible, and transparent elections in the future.

“We hope that such positive developments will continue to become the norm in future electoral processes,” Mr. Kwakye-Ackah expressed, maintaining his commendation of the IGP.

He applauded the NPP, especially its Election Committee, for organizing and conducting an incident-free election despite the tense nature of the contest before and during the process.
