Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has announced plans to commemorate the first anniversary of the Ninth Parliament.

The celebration will serve as an opportunity for lawmakers to reflect on lessons learned during the past year and to chart ways to strengthen further the institution moving forward.

Mr. Bagbin described the anniversary as a moment for renewed focus, responsibility, and commitment to serving the nation.

Reviewing the work of the First Session, he highlighted the steady progress made toward fulfilling Parliament’s constitutional mandate, crediting the collective efforts of Members of Parliament, parliamentary leadership, committees, staff of the Parliamentary Service, and civil society partners.

He emphasized that recent achievements are the result of shared effort and cooperation.

In related proceedings, majority leader Mahama Ayariga and minority leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo‑Markin, delivered respective statements, joining the speaker in welcoming members to the commemorative event, underscoring bipartisan unity in celebrating the parliament’s accomplishments.

The anniversary activities are expected to include reflections on legislative performance, institutional improvements, and future priorities for the Ninth Parliament as it continues its service to Ghana.
