Nollywood actress, Angela Okorie, has publicly apologised to her colleague Mercy Johnson weeks after being arrested in Lagos over alleged cyber-related offences.

Okorie was remanded to the Suleja Correctional Centre following her arraignment by the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the dispute, which reportedly escalated into online harassment and defamation.

The conflict began when Okorie accused Johnson of being a witch, claims that sparked widespread backlash. Mercy Johnson initially responded with a cryptic social media post addressing the online criticism before withdrawing from the public dispute.

In a video shared on Instagram after her release from prison, Angela expressed deep regret over her actions and extended a personal apology to Mercy Johnson and her family.

She attributed the fallout to industry gossip and misunderstandings, noting that conflicting stories were often relayed to both parties.

Angela emphasized a shift in her personal priorities, saying she no longer seeks conflict.

“This video is specifically for Mercy, her kids, and family. You know, as we grow older, a lot of things just leave you. In the industry, a lot of people would tell me that Mercy said this, and some would tell Mercy that I said that,” she said.

She continued: “There have been quarrels, chaos, and loggerheads, and at this age, I do not think that is what I want. The only thing I want right now is money, business. If you have business, please call me. I am no longer listening to those cheap gossips.”

Angela Okorie also directly addressed her previous accusations stating,  “just want to apologise to you. If it is just my words, if it is the words that I have written anytime your name pops up on social media, I am deeply sorry. You are not a witch; you are not what people are calling you.”

She concluded her apology with concern for the next generation, reflecting on the impact of online vitriol on their children:

“This is just to say I am sorry. We do not know where our kids would meet each other tomorrow. They might be best of friends. These kids have been traveling far and wide; they can meet anywhere in the world. I do not like the fact that they call my sister’s kids witches in school and bully them. If they do it to my child, I would not take it. So this is to say I am sorry, deeply sorry for everything,” she concluded.
