The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has described the modernisation of the William Edward Burghardt Du Bois Memorial Centre as a game changer for the development of Ghana.

During his tour of the W.E.B Du Bois Memorial Centre on Monday, 9 January 2026, he stated that the centre will position Ghana as the heart of Pan-Africanism and strengthen its historical ties with the global African community.

“I can tell you it is going to be the centre of the world of Pan-Africanism, after this project is completed,” he stated.

Mr Bagbin noted that the significance of W.E.B Du Bois, the founding father of Pan-Africanism, lies in the depth of his knowledge and wisdom, which will greatly benefit the future.

“If you don’t know history, you will never be wise. Everybody knows that the founding father of Pan-Africanism is W.E.B Du Bois, and nobody doubts that,” he uttered.

The Speaker expressed further his appreciation to the foundation for this initiative and urged the government to provide support, acknowledging that the investment required is a formidable task in itself.
