Parliament has expressed deep concern and sympathy following a road traffic accident that involved Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, and Deputy Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Adam Sukparu.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 12, 2026, on the Bolgatanga–Tumu Road, where the Ministers and their respective teams were en route to official engagements to commemorate the 40th Anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education.

According to the parliamentary press release dated Friday, February 13, the two ministers were involved in an unfortunate crash that has caused shock among their families, constituents, and the general public.

The statement notes that both ministers were airlifted to Accra for medical treatment at the 37 Military Hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition and responding to treatment.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, led a delegation of honourable members from both sides of the House to visit the ministers at the hospital, expressing solidarity and support on behalf of the entire Parliament.

Parliament wishes the ministers a swift and full recovery and assures the public there is no cause for alarm as the ministers continue to receive necessary medical care.
