Don’t chop-off crops; Bawumia will pay you realistic prices – Aaron Antwi to cocoa farmers

Communications Team Member for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Aaron Asiedu-Antwi, has urged cocoa farmers to remain resilient in the face of the ongoing cocoa crisis.

Speaking on Angel FM’s ‘Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ’ on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, he cautioned farmers against cutting down their cocoa farms, while expressing hope for improved conditions after the 2028 general election.

He revealed that the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, represents their hope for a brighter future.

Mr Asiedu-Antwi said the current struggles of farmers under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) show that the party has been unfair to farmers in the country.

He further stated that the NDC should not attribute the crisis to debts left by the previous government nor attribute it solely to the decline in world market prices.

“If the NPP government left a debt as they claim, why then were they able to increase cocoa price in their first year,” he stated.

He pointed out that, during Nana Akufo-Addo’s tenure, when World Market prices dipped, the government absorbed the losses and ensured cocoa farmers received their payments.

During his submission, he argued that the current government should do the same instead of lowering the price.

However, Mr Asiedu-Antwi urged Ghanaians to cast their votes for Dr Bawumia in the upcoming 2028 election, promising that he would deliver better prices that would ultimately bring happiness to everyone.

“Cocoa farmers, you used your thumb to vote for the NDC for four good years, and this is the result of it.

“We beg you, do not cut down your cocoa farms. Stand firm and work hard; 2028 is coming, Dr. Bawumia is coming, and the price he will bring will show you,” he stated.
