Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has highlighted the importance of rallying behind Coach Otto Addo as Ghana prepares for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He juxtaposed that the coach has performed creditably by qualifying the Black Stars for the World Cup.

Mr. Okraku stressed that, for this reason, the general public must support Mr. Addo in the team’s campaign, noting that he is the first Ghanaian coach to achieve such a feat.

“Otto Addo is the only Ghanaian to have qualified the Black Stars for two World Cups. Let’s respect and support him for that. He’s done well,” he said.

The GFA boss made the clarion call on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, during a recent interview.

His statement comes in the wake of divided opinions within the football community regarding Otto Addo’s capability to lead Ghana to the tournament.

It will be recalled that he led the team to the 2022 edition in Qatar, where the Black Stars failed to progress beyond the group stage.

While some argue that the former Ghanaian international is not fit to coach the team at the highest level, others contend that his qualification record speaks for itself.

Ghana has been drawn in the same group as England, Panama, and Croatia for the June-July tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
