GTA, EOCO to crack down on illegal travel operators ahead of FIFA world cup 2026
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has partnered with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to tackle illegal travel and tour operations in the country, particularly with the FIFA World Cup 2026.

This move comes after numerous complaints from the public about unscrupulous operators exploiting citizens.

The Authority notes that the collaboration aims to protect the public from fraudulent activities, preserve the integrity of Ghana’s tourism industry, and ensure the country’s travel ecosystem remains credible and competitive globally.

GTA’s Deputy CEO, Ekow Sampson, highlighted the disturbing number of complaints received, emphasizing the need to sanitize the travel and tours space.

EOCO’s Deputy Executive Director, Mr. Ndego, praised GTA’s initiative, describing the partnership as timely and necessary.

He pledged EOCO’s full support in investigating and clamping down on illegal operators.
