The Ministry of Education has inaugurated a five-member Audit Committee to enhance transparency, accountability, and sound financial management within the sector.

On Friday, February 20, 2026, the Deputy Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency administered the Oath of Office and the Oath of Secrecy to the members.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, the Deputy Minister, Dr. Clement Abass Apaak, described the inauguration as a key step in reinforcing good governance.

He noted that the reconstitution of the Committee is in line with Section 86(1) of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).

Dr. Apaak reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to the prudent use of public resources and expressed confidence that the Committee’s independent oversight will strengthen internal controls, risk management, and compliance with audit recommendations.

Following the swearing-in, the Committee elected a Chairperson, who assured management of the Committee’s readiness to work collaboratively to improve systems and enhance financial discipline within the Ministry.

Management pledged its full support to enable the Committee to effectively discharge its statutory responsibilities in accordance with the Public Financial Management Act.
