The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, delivered a strong and strategic representation of Ghana at the high-level Trade and Tourism Mission held in Russia from February 16 to 20, 2026.

Her participation marked yet another decisive step in positioning Ghana as a competitive, investment-ready destination on the global stage.

Elevating Ghana’s voice on the global platform

During the mission, Maame Efua Houadjeto addressed plenary sessions and served as a panelist in critical discussions centered on trade expansion, tourism diplomacy, and cross-border investment collaboration.

Her contributions reinforced Ghana’s commitment to leveraging tourism as a driver of economic transformation, cultural exchange, and sustainable development.

In her remarks, she emphasized Ghana’s strategic location as the gateway to West Africa, its stable political environment, and the government’s deliberate policies aimed at strengthening tourism infrastructure, creative arts, and investor confidence.

Showcasing Ghana’s cultural identity through fugu

As part of the trade exhibition sessions, the CEO seized the opportunity to showcase Ghana’s indigenous textile heritage by presenting Fugu—a symbol of authenticity, craftsmanship, and cultural pride.

The display generated significant interest among participants and investors, highlighting the commercial potential of Ghana’s cultural exports within global fashion and creative industry markets.

The presentation of Fugu was not merely symbolic; it formed part of a broader strategy to position Ghana’s cultural assets as viable economic products capable of scaling into international markets.

Engaging strategic investors

Beyond the formal sessions, the CEO held targeted engagements with high-level investors and business leaders, outlining bankable opportunities within Ghana’s tourism and trade ecosystem.

Discussions focused on:

Hospitality and eco-tourism development

Creative arts and cultural export expansion

Infrastructure partnerships

Destination marketing collaborations

These engagements were instrumental in advancing conversations around long-term partnerships, capital inflows, and technical collaboration that will strengthen Ghana’s tourism value chain.

Strengthening Ghana–Russia economic ties

The mission further deepened bilateral engagement between Ghana and Russia, opening new channels for trade and tourism cooperation.

The CEO reiterated Ghana’s readiness to welcome strategic investors and reaffirmed GTA’s commitment to facilitating partnerships that deliver measurable economic impact.

Her participation once again demonstrated Ghana’s proactive diplomacy in trade and tourism—moving beyond rhetoric to deliberate action.

As Ghana continues to expand its global footprint, the Ghana Tourism Authority remains steadfast in its mandate to position the country as Africa’s preferred destination for investment, culture, and unforgettable experiences.
