Nigerian Afro-pop musician, Augustine Uche, stage name Spotless, has credited Ghanaian music groups R2Bees and Vision In Progress (VIP) for having a strong influence on his upbringing and musical journey.

According to the singer, their songs were widely played across Nigeria during his childhood, making them unavoidable and deeply impactful.

“There have been many Ghanaian musicians who had a huge impact on me growing up as a kid. I would say R2Bees, they are incredible musicians and VIP. Their songs were all over the country, so you have to understand why I resonate with them,” he said.

Spotless added that VIP’s records were not only popular in Nigeria but across Africa, describing them as “big songs” that shaped the soundscape of his early years.

“Their songs were all over the country, so you have to understand why I will resonate with them people  VIP songs were big songs all over Africa,” he made this remark during an interview on Y’aduma Nie on Angel Fm.

He further noted that Nigerian listeners drew inspiration from Ghanaian artistes on multiple levels, highlighting the long-standing cultural and musical exchange between the two countries.

“We took impressions from Ghanaians on a lot of levels,” he remarked.
