The Greater Accra Regional Administrator of the National Ambulance Service, Daniel Asare, was compelled to transfer mobile money to his team to pay for a folder, before an accident victim was admitted to the 37 Military Hospital on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

Angelonline.com.gh source says taff of the hospital had reportedly demanded the money which was to cover the required charges before the patient could be admitted.

Incident summary

According to our sources, on Wednesday, a road accident occurred at Tema Community 18 Junction around 6am.

An emergency call was placed to the National Ambulance Service and a team arrived at about 30minutes later.

However, upon arrival, hospital authorities reportedly indicated that a patient folder had to be opened and payment processes completed before admission, leading to delays in receiving care.

Emergency care was delayed due to administrative and payment requirements, placing the Ambulance personnel in a difficult position to source funds before the patient could receive treatment.

The development has ignited calls for urgent public attention and investigation by the Health Ministry into the incident, as such practices may compromise emergency response standards and patient safety.
