Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has stated that since the inception of President John Mahama’s administration, security recruitment has been conducted transparently for all qualified applicants.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament today, the Asawase legislator noted that, due to the transparent process, security officers who attempted to smuggle individuals through the “back door” under the guise of protocol have been arrested and are facing prosecution.
He made this remark in response to concerns raised by the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who alleged inconsistencies in security recruitment processes across the country.
The Interior Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which the Minority Leader posed his question, pointing directly at him. According to Mubarak, the question should have been framed differently.
He emphasized that his ministry is committed to ensuring that only qualified Ghanaians are recruited into the security services.
Meanwhile, Minority Leader and Effutu Member of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, clarified that his intention was not to discredit the Interior Minister but rather to seek clarity and ensure that parliamentary records reflect transparency and adherence to procedure.
