President John Dramani Mahama has highlighted the Feed Ghana Program as a transformative initiative boosting food security and fosters sustainable economic growth.

He stated that the government remains committed to building a strong agricultural foundation, through the Agriculture Transformation Agenda, with the 24-Hour Economy serving as the implementation vehicle of the Program.

“Our objective is clear to restore food sovereignty, stabilize food prices, reduce import dependence, increase decent jobs, especially for youth, and reposition agriculture as a strategic growth sector under the 24-Hour Economy policy,” Mr. Mahama said during the State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament on Friday, February 27, 2026.

Safeguarding the nation’s food supply, President Mahama added that there has been an allocation of ¢300 million to the National Food Buffer Stock Company to mop up excess produce and establish a strategic national food reserve for emergencies.

Speaking further, he highlighted a tangible result, noting that the previous administration achieved an unprecedented result before providing relief to Ghanaians.

“As of January 2025, food inflation stood at 28.3%, following an unprecedented peak of 61%in January 2023. This situation puts severe pressure on households and undermines national stability.

“Today, food inflation has declined significantly to 4.9%, and this has provided relief to Ghanaian families and businesses,” he cited.
