Ghanaian rapper, Medikal, has been appointed as the official ambassador for the National Youth Authority’s (NYA) “Red” campaign, a nationwide initiative aimed at discouraging the use of the synthetic drug known as ‘Red’ among young people.

The announcement was made by the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, who said the move forms part of government efforts to intensify public education on the dangers of drug abuse.

According to the minister, Medikal’s strong appeal among the youth makes him a strategic choice to lead advocacy efforts that promote a drug-free lifestyle.

Under the partnership, the award-winning artiste is expected to engage students through school outreach programmes, drive awareness on social media, and use his music and public appearances to amplify the campaign’s message.

The “Red” initiative seeks to curb the growing concern over the use of the synthetic substance popularly referred to as ‘Red,’ which authorities say poses serious health and social risks to young people.

Officials believe Medikal’s involvement will help the campaign reach a wider audience and encourage more youth to make positive life choices.
