The Ministry for the Interior has paid the outstanding rent allowance owed to the Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and Ghana Immigration Service.
In a statement released by the Ministry on Monday, March 2, 2026, it was announced that the government has released funds to cover the arrears owed to eligible personnel across these services for the year 2025.
The Ministry announced that rent allowance payments will be processed and paid alongside their monthly salaries starting in March 2026.
“The Ministry wishes to announce that the payment process for rent allowance has been mechanized going forward.
Effective from March 2026, rent allowance payments will be processed and disbursed together with monthly salaries,” the Ministry revealed.
The Ministry expressed appreciation for the patience and understanding demonstrated by the affected officers during this period, reiterating its commitment to continuous collaboration with other stakeholders to ensure timely payments.
“The Ministry remains committed to the welfare of all personnel under its oversight and will continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Finance and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the timely fulfillment of all entitlements,” the statement noted.
