The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akuapem North, Samuel Awuku, has called on the President John Mahama-led administration to move beyond political slogans and focus on practical solutions to address the growing unemployment challenge.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, he stated that Mr. Mahama has resorted to political slogans rather than addressing the realities facing the Ghanaian people.

Mr. Nkrumah made this expression when criticizing the credibility of employment figures presented by the President in his 2026 State of the Nation Address. (SONA)

“We need to move beyond the slogan of ‘nkoko nkitinkiti’ and tackle the issues that we are also facing,” he urged.

Mr. Awuku said the President’s claim of creating one million jobs was inconsistent with figures provided by the government statistician, which reportedly placed the number at about 333,000.

“Two million unemployment according to the president in last year SONA but the President said he had created one (1) million jobs in his own state of the nation address in 2026.

“But this figure he delivered is at complete variance, what his own government statistician told the Ghanaian people, its either the president was in accurate in his delivery or the government statistician lied to be people of Ghana,” the MP pointed out.
