The Ministry of Health has set up an Investigation Committee to examine the circumstances surrounding the death of 29-year-old engineer Charles Amissah, who reportedly died on February 6, 2026, following a hit-and-run accident.

According to reports, Amissah was denied emergency admission and care at three hospitals: Police Hospital, Ridge Hospital, and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The incident has sparked serious public concern over emergency healthcare delivery in Ghana, prompting the Ministry to task the committee with uncovering the facts of the case and recommending improvements to strengthen nationwide emergency care services.

The Investigation Committee is inviting the public, healthcare workers, eyewitnesses, and civil society organizations to submit written inputs, testimonies, or information related to emergency healthcare experiences.

Submissions can be sent by email to dacosta_osei@yahoo.com or by telephone to +233 55 720 8487, and must be received by March 11, 2026.

Chief Director Desmond Boateng, acting for the Minister of Health, emphasized that public input is vital to ensuring emergency care in Ghana becomes more responsive, accessible, and effective.

The investigation aims to address systemic issues in emergency medical services and prevent similar tragedies in the future, with the Ministry pledging transparency throughout the inquiry process.
