The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, will be leading Ghana’s delegation to the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from Monday, March 9, to Thursday, March 19, 2026

The Commission is the United Nations’ principal global intergovernmental body dedicated to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women.

The priority theme for CSW70 is “ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies and practices, and addressing structural barriers.”

The session brings together Member States, UN agencies, and Civil Society Organizations to review progress, address emerging challenges, and advance global commitments toward gender equality.

Ghana’s delegation comprises technical officials from relevant Ministries, Members of Parliament, representatives from the Office of the President, academia, as well as representatives from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working in the areas of gender equality and social protection.

As part of her participation, the minister is expected to deliver three statements on behalf of Ghana during the Opening Dialogue Segment, a Ministerial Roundtable Discussion, and a High-Level Meeting, participating in bilateral discussions.
