Proprietor of Petra Adwoa Training Institute, Dr. Francis John Smith Amoah, has shared the inspiring story behind establishing what he says is the first African school in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and fully owned by a Ghanaian.

Speaking to ZionFelix, Dr. Amoah said the institute is proudly Ghanaian-owned. “This is the only African school in the whole UAE, 100% owned by a Ghanaian,” he stated.

He explained that he moved to Dubai hoping to secure a teaching job but was discouraged by some fellow Ghanaians.

Despite the challenges, he remained determined and eventually secured a teaching role after several rounds of interviews.

“I went for the interview for the first time and a week later they called me again… I was called the first time, second time and third time before I got the job,” he recounted.

Dr. Amoah revealed that the idea to start the school came from his in-law, although he initially doubted it would be possible.

“Personally, I thought it was not possible, but I believed that by the grace of God everything is possible,” he said.

He added that encouragement from an African official at the UAE Ministry of Education helped him push through the difficulties.

“He told me not to give up and that this would be the first African school in the UAE,” Dr. Amoah revealed.
