The youth of Denkyira Fobinso within the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region has announced a planned demonstration in the coming weeks.

The exercise, according to the youth, is intended to draw attention to the deplorable state of the Denkyira Gyaman–Denkyira Fobinso main road.

Their planned peaceful protest was cited in a letter of notice to the police in the area and sighted by Angelonline.com.gh

In the letter, the youth indicated that the demonstration will begin from Denkyira Fobinso and proceed to the haulage crossing of Perseus Mining Limited along the Fobinso–Denkyira Gyaman feeder road.

They explained that the protest seeks to particularly remind the management of Perseus Mining Limited of its understanding with the Fobinso community to repair the road whenever it deteriorates.

According to them, “despite several letters and reminders sent to the company, the community has yet to receive any response.”

The letter was signed by the Fobinso Mrantehene, Nana Kofi Kagya, with copies to Yaw Kwarteng, Unit Committee Secretary, and Patrick Osei, an opinion leader

It said that although members of the community have taken it upon themselves to reshape portions of the road, the planned demonstration has become necessary to highlight the severity of the situation and formally bring the matter to the attention of the mining company.

The youth assured the police and other stakeholders that the exercise would be conducted peacefully and lawfully.
