A joint security operation conducted by the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team and the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has led to the arrest of twelve (12) Nigerian nationals suspected of being involved in organized cybercrime and human trafficking.

The intelligence-led operation, carried out on Wednesday, March 12, 2026,  retrieved twenty-five (25) laptop computers and seven (7) mobile phones.

According to a police statement, the operation was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Malaika Jibril Alhassan from the Police Headquarters, together with Superintendent Francis Baidoo of the Amasaman Sector Command of the GIS.

Police investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly engaged in a range of online criminal activities, including identity theft, email and phishing fraud, mobile money (MoMo) fraud, cyber extortion and blackmail, credit card and ATM fraud and internet forgery.

The Police disclosed that six suspects believed to be involved in illegal migration offences are currently on the run and are being pursued by law enforcement agencies.

The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-driven operations, inter-agency coordination, and effective enforcement of the law to safeguard national security and protect the integrity of Ghana’s digital and migration space.
