The Circuit Court has remanded a 30-year-old mason, Daniel Odai Affotey, after he pleaded not guilty to five counts of unlawful entry, conspiracy to commit stealing, stealing, and causing unlawful damage.

The Prosecutor, ASP Raymond Ackon, told the court that in March 2026, the complainant left her house early in the morning for work, only to return around 4 p.m. to find her house broken into, her rooms ransacked, and her personal belongings stolen, including other items.

Police obtained CCTV footage from the crime scene, which revealed that Affotey and another suspect, Kwame Ewonam, committed the crime using a Toyota Rush vehicle with registration number GX 1219-18.

On March 11, 2026, police intelligence led to the arrest of Daniel Odai at Labone CELS Bridge Pub/Restaurant, where the said vehicle was retrieved. A search conducted in the vehicle revealed cash amounting to GH¢30,000.00.

Further searches at his residence uncovered several travelling bags containing suspected stolen items, including laptops of different brands, 11 television sets, 53 mobile phones, one military camouflage trouser, assorted clothes, sneakers, duvets, pillowcases, remote controls, assorted jewellery, and various home appliances.

ASP Ackon further stated that on March 4, at about 12:00 p.m., he went on a stealing spree within the Spintex area using the rented Toyota Rush vehicle. They allegedly entered the complainant’s house and stole $22,350, £1,000, GH¢1,000.00, and other personal effects listed on the charge sheet.

He indicated that Affotey sold some of the stolen gold jewellery to an unidentified man for GH¢40,000.00, of which GH¢30,000.00 was retrieved from the vehicle.
