NDC wasting almost two years of its tenure – Kofi Tonto

‎Aide to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kofi Tonto, has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has wasted almost half of its tenure in office amidst the delay in implementing the 24-hour economy policy, one of the flagship proposals of the John Dramani Mahama administration.

‎Speaking on Angel TV’s Anopa Bofo on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, he asserted that it’s been almost two years, yet the NDC has failed to make significant progress on the policy.

“The point I’m making is that if developing the policy document and passing the act took you [NDC] one year and three months. And you are now setting up the authority, looking for office space, appointing a CEO and board chair, which could take another six months, then nearly two years have passed without implementing your flagship policy,” he highlighted.

‎Mr. Tonto questioned the government’s timeline, noting that Ghanaians gave them a four-year mandate and two years have already gone by.

“If it takes you two years just to set up the office, when will you begin structuring the market? When will coordination between the police and the various districts begin?” he quizzed.

‎He urged the NDC government to revise their decision-making and turn them into action, indicating that Ghanaians voted them to power to tackle problems facing the people and not to resort to excuses and explanations.
