‘NDC’s developmental agenda within one year unprecedented’ – Akwatia MP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia, Bernard Bediako, has said that the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) governmental agenda within one year is something that has never happened in Ghana’s political history.

He emphasised that no government under the Fourth Republic has given local governments money to work on developmental projects across districts to accelerate their completion, except President Mahama’s administration.

He said any government that wants to reset Ghana should first focus on macro stability before moving to micro stability, noting that this is what the government is doing now.

“Under the fourth republic, there is no government that has given local government offices money to work on projects to go fast like President Mahama’s government, that is on record,” he stated.

Bediako said he would use his own constituency as an example so that everyone would know that his claims are true, noting that in the history of his constituency, no government has provided resources to establish developmental projects as this government has.

“Everyday I say that when you are doing politics and if you want people to see that you are truthful, you have to say what you know and what you have witnessed in your constituency, as an MP, that is why I have started from my own constituency,” he stated.

Bediako further cited that the government has been constructing infrastructure, addressing school feeding programme issues, improving roads and markets, and paying assembly members, teachers’, and nurses’ allowances.

He also mentioned the payment of first-year fees for first-year tertiary students, settling debts left by the previous government, and resolving energy issues as a few of the many achievements of the government.

He indicated that these actions demonstrate how the government has been working within just its first year of administration, adding that this performance is exceptional compared with Akufo-Addo’s eight years in office.
