The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has clarified that a viral video depicting a man brutally assaulting a child did not occur in Ghana but in neighboring Nigeria.

According to the Police, the video was brought to their attention after several social media users tagged the Service’s official platforms, including the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) under the office of the Inspector-General of Police.

Following investigations, the CVET established that the incident took place at 16 Popoola Street, Oko Baale, Ado Odo Otta, in Ogun State, Nigeria.

The disturbing footage shows a man, identified as Odukaye Kunle, physically abusing his son, Boluwatife, during an alleged domestic dispute with his wife.

The Police noted that the Nigerian Police Force has since arrested Kunle in connection with the act.

The Police Service commended the public for their concern about such incidents, assuring them that it remains committed to collaborating with the public and international partners in the fight against crime.
