Kumawood actor, Sylvester Agyapong (Papa Sly), has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of being responsible for the destruction of an artwork in Kumasi Asokwa interchange.

Speaking to the media, he said he saw a trending video featuring a blogger who he identified as an NPP member standing at the Asokwa interchange and criticizing the artwork created by some senior high school students.

He stated that the blogger’s remarks made it clear to him that the individual was responsible for the damage.

“Me I believe it is the NPP people who did it I won’t refer it to anyone I’m not saying this because they are in opposition yesterday I saw a video circulating, where a certain guy who is an NPP, everyone knows him on social media but the things he was saying shows that if there is someone to be blamed, we will not blame any other person but him. You got 38% instead of you to at least maintain it, you are rather reducing it,” he stated.

The actor, also a deputy Ashanti Regional Coordinator for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), urged the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to summon the blogger, investigate him thoroughly, and punish him if found guilty.

Papa Sly commended the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, for organising AshantiFest, and praised the students for their impressive artwork.

He said it was remarkable that senior high school pupils produced such beautiful pieces, noting that the art contract allegedly awarded to a son of the former president for $25 million, but had failed to deliver.

He further assured that scholarships will be awarded to the students whose paintings are judged the best.

“This is the first of its kind that we are getting Ashanti regional minister to organise this program, if the Ashanti festival held last year and holding it this year, it shows the man has a vision. I thank him for this beautiful thing.

“I even asked the students if they are the ones doing this or their teachers, and they said they are doing it themselves, they have really done well, sure most of the students deserve a scholarship we will inspect the drawings later and give a scholarship to those whose painting will be more beautiful,” he uttered.
