Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has called on the government to complete all stalled Agenda 111 hospitals and put them into use.

He noted that the Agenda 111 project was launched to build hospitals nationwide and improve access to healthcare.

Speaking at the Kyebi Government Hospital’s centenary celebrations, organised by the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional State, he said completing these hospitals would significantly enhance equal access to quality healthcare in Ghana as he stressed the importance of continuity in health projects.

“No Ghanaian regardless of the location should be denied access to quality healthcare, we must also be honest not every project is completed some vicinities need advancement which we could not finish before our term in office, agenda 111 must be continued, continuity not destruction is how health systems will succeed, what was built must be maintained, what was started must be completed; that is how progress is ensured,” he stated.

Akufo-Addo said the government should finish these projects as his administration did with facilities inherited from previous governments, citing the completion of the Vamerd Immunity Hospital inherited from President John Dramani Mahama’s first administration and the John Agyekum Kufuor government.

He also urged that healthcare should not be politicised, saying disease does not recognise political colours and access to care must not depend on circumstances.

“The co-indication of this, is the completion of the Vamerd Immunity hospital inherited from the previous Mahama first administration and the Kuffour government by my administration. Healthcare is not partisan, disease doe not recognised political colours and access to care must never depend on circumstances,” he uttered.
