NPP won’t sit and watch ‘Mahama’s Big Push’ turned into ‘Big Loot – Ofosu Sefa

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not sit idle and watch the National Democratic Congress (NDC) use Mahama’s “Big Push” project to embezzle state funds, Ofosu Sefa has vowed.

According to the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), the opposition party will hold the government accountable.

He stated this on Angel TV on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, after President John Mahama orders full probe into ‘unmerited’ sole-sourcing in the award of road contracts by the Roads and Highway Ministry under the Big Push’ project.

Speaking on the matter, he questioned why the NDC, which criticized the NPP for sole-sourcing as a means of corruption, is now practicing the same approach and vowed that the NPP would act as a watchdog over the NDC.

“They have a lot of explanations to do. We will also do our work. This is just the beginning; we can’t sit down and make Big Push turn into Big Loot,” he said.

He criticized the NDC, citing the Dodo Pepesu Nkwanta road project, which the NPP built for $25 million during its term, but which the NDC is now renovating for about $64 million.

“One example out of many: a road done 10 years ago for $25 million, why has it now reached $63 million just for rehabilitation? Explain,” he stated.

He further accused the NDC of awarding over GH¢100 billion in road contracts, many of which were signed on weekends under the guise of urgency.

“You have dished out over GH¢100 billion worth of contracts and claim there’s urgency. All the things you spoke against, you are now known for,” he said.

He added that the NPP will continue to do its job and hold the NDC accountable whenever wrongdoing is identified.
