International hitmaker, Black Sherif, has revealed that he no longer offers guidance to up-and-coming artistes on how to succeed, explaining that such advice can deprive them of the personal growth and resilience needed to carve their own paths.

The Konongo Zongo-born artiste, Black Sherif, who rose from modest beginnings to global acclaim, revealed that his outlook has gradually changed over time.

He explained that although he once openly shared advice during the early phase of his career, his exposure to major platforms and international stages has significantly reshaped his perspective.

Reflecting on his journey, Black Sherif noted that in 2021, when he was frequently asked during interviews to share tips with emerging talents, he often had plenty to say. However, that has since changed.

“Somewhere in 2021, when I started music and went for interviews, and they asked me for advice for upcoming artistes, I used to have a lot,” he said.

“But these days, when somebody thinks because you’ve gone to BET or done this, I don’t have advice. They are always surprised, and I am too.”

According to him, the realities he has encountered in the music industry have made him more cautious about influencing others’ journeys.

“I’ve been so shocked by the things I’ve seen that sometimes I feel like if I give advice, I strip people of their experience, the things they have to go through,” he explained.

Black Sherif emphasised that every artiste must make their own decisions and learn from the outcomes, as those experiences are crucial in shaping their careers.

He also highlighted the significant role social media plays in his work, describing it as an indispensable tool in his rise and continued relevance.

“Social media is a big deal for me. It’s so big a deal that I cannot use a day to fully describe it,” he added.
